L'Oréal Groupe Message regarding Ukraine
L’Oréal strongly condemns the Russian invasion and the war in Ukraine, which is causing so much suffering to the Ukrainian people. Since February 24, 2022, our absolute priority has been to support our over 300 Ukrainian employees and their families.
We continue to support our employees in Ukraine with financial and psychological help. In neighbouring countries, our teams on the ground have personally welcomed and often also host over 500 people including our Ukrainian colleagues and their families. We are providing accommodation, psychological, financial, medical and immigration support where needed. Wherever possible we provide temporary work opportunities for our employees in other L’Oréal subsidiaries. We are also helping otherdisplaced Ukrainians to find job opportunities within the L’Oréal ecosystem.
More broadly, to support the people in Ukraine, as well as displaced Ukrainians in other countries, we will continue to work with local NGOs on the ground (like SOS Villages, People in Need and Let’s Help), in addition to United Nations agencies UNHCR, UNFPA and UNICEF. We have already donated € 2.7 million to humanitarian aid, and we will continue to donate through our €5 million Ukraine Fund.
To date, our work with the UNHCR has allowed us to provide assistance to 1.74 million people inside Ukraine, convoy more than 350 trucks of essential items from Poland to Ukraine, and support more than 382,000 displaced Ukrainians in neighbouring countries.
When it comes to Russia, L'Oréal has gone beyond all the current EU and US sanctions. In addition to temporarily closing all our own stores, directly operated counters in department stores as well as our own brand e-commerce sites and suspending all industrial and national media investments, L’Oréal stopped selling the majority of its brands, limiting its presence to the most essential products, while continuing to support our employees.
We remain in daily contact with our teams on the ground and to adapt our response according to the evolving situation.
