Pro-Xylane: the green chemistry anti-ageing revolution

Close

Have you heard of Pro-Xylane? This patented molecule developed by L’Oréal is derived from beech xylose using an environmentally-friendly direct synthesis process that promotes a circular economy. It is one of the Group’s benchmark anti-ageing active ingredients in cosmetics.
Learn more about this cosmetics molecule – the first of its kind to be produced using the principles of green chemistry – and get a behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating, revolutionary world of Green Sciences!

At L’Oréal, we never stop pushing the frontiers of skin science and skin knowledge.

More than 20 years ago, we invented Pro-Xylane the ultimate anti-ageing ingredient, biosourced from birch and beech wood, that mimics our skin regeneration capacity.

Our skin is a living tissue, producing molecules called Glycosaminoglycans to keep itself plump and soft. With time, they can be damaged, their production by skin cells is reduced. Our skin then loses its density, elasticity, and wrinkles appear.

Based on this knowledge, Pro-Xylane initiates the creation of new and more Glycosaminoglycans entities and favours the natural synthesis of hyaluronic acid and collagen when diffused in the upper layers of our skin.

The results? Skin regeneration of the epidermal layer and the skin structure.
Wrinkles and fine lines fade, microrelief improves, the skin looks younger, firmer, brighter and more elastic.

Pro-Xylane, L’Oréal’s first green chemistry anti-ageing active with demonstrated true scientific efficacy.

One invention. One molecule. One skincare revolution.
