Citizen Day 2018: together for a better world!
In 2018, over 855 local organisations in 63 countries benefited from the participation of L’Oréal employees during the Group’s Citizen Day.
This initiative, which has been organised yearly since 2010, gives L’Oréal employees the opportunity to devote a full day of work to supporting social and environmental organisations and their beneficiaries. The very diverse organisations support a wide variety of causes: environment, support for the disabled, support for people in difficult situations, social integration, the fight against waste, access to employment, etc.
In 2018, Citizen Day mobilised over 27,000 people worldwide, representing near to 170,000 volunteer hours that positively impacted thousands of people’s lives. Citizen Day is a pillar of our corporate culture and a shared source of pride.
Citizen Day across the globe
In Chile, more than 250 employees transformed the San Bernardo neighbourhood by cleaning and renovating the local park: plants, vegetable patches, climbing frames for children, restored structures, etc. The goal: improve the lives of over 1,800 people who live in this underprivileged suburb of Santiago.
In Dubai, L’Oréal supported one of the region’s biggest non-profit events: the Special Olympics, a sporting competition for athletes with mental disabilities. The 200 L’Oréal employees who participated worked as translators and welcome hosts, and became the athletes’ number one fans!
In northern Lebanon, employees cleaned up a polluted natural area covered in plastic bottles and other non-biodegradable waste.
Satisfied organisations
The results of the comprehensive satisfaction survey sent to organisations worldwide were very positive. 90% of them said the Citizen Day initiatives helped improve the daily lives of their beneficiaries, and 80% referred to at least one activity that could not have been accomplished without L’Oréal’s support.
To ensure that employee commitment continues over the long term, many countries strengthen their partnerships with Citizen Day beneficiary organisations throughout the year.
See you next year for the 10th anniversary!
